We already knew that Founders Brewing Co.’s Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) 2018 is being released at retailers nationwide on Nov. 2, but it turns out that fans will be able to purchase it at the brewery one day before the national release.
That is because the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery has announced it will be releasing bottles of the barrel-aged stout during events at both of its breweries located in Grand Rapids and Detroit on Nov. 1.
Canadian Breakfast Stout is an imperial stout that is brewed with chocolate and a blend of coffees before being aged for over a year in spent bourbon barrels that were most recently aging maple syrup.
The beer was first released in bottles in October of 2011, and was rereleased as a draft-only option exclusively in one-quarter-bbl kegs that were distributed to the brewery’s entire 32 state network in 2014. It was then sold again last year as the final release in Founders’ 2017 Barrel-Aged Series packaged in 750ml bottles, although there were 12-ounce bottles shipped exclusively to the 27 countries in the brewery’s international distribution network outside of the U.S., including the county of Canada.
According to a post on Founders’ website, tickets for the exclusive release of CBS 2018 being held at its Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms will go on sale Oct. 12 via Eventbrite and includes only one option priced at $50, which can be redeemed for two bottles of the barrel-aged stout as well as an exclusive CBS bag and “limited-edition gift.” In addition, each attendee may purchase two tickets, meaning that the total bottle limit will be four 750ml bottles per person.
Customers will then be able to pick up their bottles at either taproom from Nov. 1-4.
According to a post on Founder’s website, Canadian Breakfast Stout 2018 is scheduled to be available at retailers across the brewery’s 45-state distribution network on Nov. 2. However, unlike the other five releases in the brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series, CBS will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($24.99) exclusively.
