Next week, Founders Brewing Co. is adding another IPA to its newest series, but fans will have to visit the brewery to get it.
Mothership Series #2: Sleeper Cell is a 10.8 percent ABV double IPA brewed with “an intense dose” of five different hop varieties. The IPA debuted as a draft-only option in 2016, but this will be the first time the beer has been packaged.
The double IPA will be the second addition in Founders Mothership Series, which consists of releases that have been “brought out of retirement” or “experimental new styles” and will be available for carryout exclusively at the brewery’s taprooms in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles. The first beer in the series was Red Rye IPA, a 6.6 percent ABV IPA brewed with imported Belgian caramel malts and dry-hopped with Amarillo hops that was released in February.
According to a post on Founders’ website, Mothership Series #2: Sleeper Cell will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles ($12) and is scheduled to be released at both of the brewery’s taprooms in Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 4.
