Founders Brewing Co.’s newest year-round beer has been released.

Unraveled IPA is a 6.6 percent ABV “juicy IPA” brewed with oats and wheat before being dry-hopped with traditional hop pellets as well as lupulin powder. According to the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery, it is the same beer as Mucho Lupu, an IPA that was released as part of its Mothership Series back in June 2019.

In addition, Founders has served an IPA under the Unraveled IPA name as a draft-only option that is brewed with Amarillo, Azacca, Mosaic and Simcoe hops, but that version comes in at a slightly higher 6.8 percent ABV.

“This is one of my favorite IPAs to come out of the brewery in a while,” said Jeremy Kosmicki, brewmaster at Founders, in an email to Tenemu.  “The hop character is aggressive with its citrus and tropical flavors and aromas while the addition of lupulin powder – rather than relying on over dry-hopping with just pellets – helps keep the grassiness in check. It has great balance and is clean, bright and refreshing.”

According to Founders, Unraveled IPA is packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce cans that are available for purchase today at the brewery’s Grand Rapids taproom and will be available in Founders’ Detroit taproom on Feb. 18. The IPA will also begin shipping across the brewery’s distribution footprint staring in “mid-February.”
