The first release in a brand new series from Founders Brewing Co. may seem very familiar to long-time fans.
The beer in question is Red’s Rye IPA, a 6.6 percent ABV IPA brewed with imported Belgian caramel malts and dry-hopped with Amarillo hops. The IPA has been a year-round draft-only release for a number of years and was last sold in bottles in 2018 as part of Founders’ Mothership Series.
“We’re excited to release Red’s Rye IPA in package outside of our taproom for the first time in years,” said Dave Engbers, co-founder and president of Founders, in a press release. “There’s a reason Red’s Rye IPA is consistently the #1 selling beer in the Grand Rapids taproom month after month – it’s a well-balanced, flavorful IPA that celebrates the delicious citrus characteristics of the Amarillo hop.”
The newest incarnation of Red’s Rye IPA will be the first release in Founders’ brand new ‘Brewed for MI’ Series, which will included three different Michigan-exclusive releases throughout the year, each of which will aim “to raise awareness for Michigan-based non-profits through the brewery’s corporate giving platform, the Big Pitcher.”
According to Founders, Red’s Rye IPA will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce cans ($9) that are scheduled to be released on March 11 in the brewery’s Grand Rapids taproom and on March 12 in the Detroit taproom. Cans will also be available “in limited quantities in Michigan accounts as early as mid-March.”
