A new series from Founders Brewing Co. will debut with a beer that might be familiar to fans.

The first release in The Mothership Series is Red Rye IPA, a 6.6 percent ABV IPA brewed with imported Belgian caramel malts and dry-hopped with Amarillo hops. The IPA has been a year-round draft-only release for a number of years and was last sold in bottles in 2014.

According to Founders’ 2018 Release Calendar and a post on its website, The Mothership Series will consist of releases that have been “brought out of retirement” or “experimental new styles” and will be available for carryout exclusively at the brewery’s taprooms in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles. A second unnamed addition to the series is expected to rereleased in May.

The newest incarnation of Red’s Rye IPA will be packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and is scheduled to be released at both of Founders’ taprooms in Detroit and Grand Rapids, Michigan in February.
