It has been said that membership has its perks, and that has proven to be the case for members of Founders Brewing Co.’s Cadre club.

According to an email sent to members, the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery is giving the Cadre a way to have “input on future beer releases” in its Mothership Series. The survey on Founders’ website asks members to choose five selections from a list of 25 options, but there is also a write-in option for beers that are not on the list.

Founders Cadre is a membership club that is open to anyone who wishes to sign up; in the past, members have received exclusive news, merchandise and have even been included in a large social media marketing campaign.

Included in the list emailed to members are a number of popular Founders creations like Devil Dancer, Frangelic Mountain Brown and Lizard of Koz as well as a number of lesser-known beers like Apple Blossom Apple Ale, 4 Giants IPA and Peachy Trouble. The list also includes a barrel-aged version of a beer that was used as a base for a creation which has already been released in the series, namely Donkey Stout.

The listed beers that members can choose from are:

  • Honey Wheat
  • Lemon Drop IPA
  • Sweet Jane’s IPA
  • 2 Chainz Black IPA
  • Conundrum IPA
  • 4 Giants IPA
  • Brut IPA
  • Founders Fest Wheat

Founders Mothership Series debuted early last year and is made up of beers that have been “brought out of retirement” or “experimental new styles” and are available for carryout exclusively at the brewery’s taprooms in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles. The last addition in the series was Cerise, a sour ale brewed with 100 percent tart Michigan cherries that was released last week.
