Founders Brewing Co. is commemorating its 20th anniversary with both a party and a new beer.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery will be releasing Tank Bender, an eisbock-style ale brewed with Munich malts and aged in bourbon barrels. This is the third time Founders has released a beer for its anniversary, following Deca in 2007 to celebrate its 10-year anniversary and Bolt Cutter in 2012 to commemorate the brewery’s 15th anniversary.

“Tank Bender is our first foray into the rare style known as eisbock,” reads a post on the brewery’s website. “This style involves freezing water off the beer, resulting in ultra-concentrated flavor, deeper body and, in our case, a bent tank from collapsing ice. A liberal addition of Munich malt highlights the toasty and dark fruit notes while a stay in bourbon barrels tames those intense flavors.”
According to Founders, Tank Bender will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($20) with a two bottle per person purchase limit when it goes on sale at the brewery on Oct. 14. In addition, there will be a gift set priced at $60 that will include one 750ml bottle, two commemorative glasses, a custom box and a booklet.
