The third and final release in Founders Brewing Co.’s Backstage Series for 2014 will be a chocolate raspberry stout named Big Lushious. Coming in at 7.8 percent ABV, Big Lushious will be sold in 750-ml bottles with a suggested retail price of $16.99 each.
“We thought Big Lushious would make a great release for the holidays,” said Dave Engbers, co-founder and vice-president of brand and education for Founders, in a press release. “It’s a luxurious beer for us. It’s meant for bringing to parties and is perfect for sharing with friends and family after a feast.”
Including Big Lushious, there have now been 11 different releases since the Backstage Series started in 2011: Blushing Monk, a belgian ale, and Canadian Breakfast Stout in 2011; Curmudgeon’s Better Half old ale, Frangelic Mountain brown ale and Bold Cutter barley wine in 2012; Doom bourbon barrel aged IPA, Mango Magnifico fruit beer and Sweet Repute wheat beer in 2013 and Smoked Porter, Dissenter Imperial IPL and Big Lushious stout in 2014. The series will continue in 2015 with more releases.
Big Lushious stout will be released in limited quantities across the brewery’s 33-state distribution network starting on Dec. 1. It will also be available in the brewery’s taproom that same week.
