One of Founders Brewing Co.’s most well-known seasonal stouts will soon be available all year long.

That beer is Kentucky Breakfast Stout, a 12 percent ABV imperial breakfast stout that has been brewed with “a massive amount” of both coffee and chocolate before being aged in Kentucky bourbon barrels for an entire year in old gypsum mines 85 feet under the ground at a temperature of 38-40 degrees fahrenheit.  After debuting on-draft in 2002, the stout remained an annual limited release until it was added to the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series in 2017.

According to a post on Founders’ website, year-round availability of Kentucky Breakfast Stout will begin in February 2020, when the stout is scheduled to ship nationwide packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

In addition, Founders announced yesterday that it will be shipping the first-ever bottled variant of the barrel-aged stout at the same time, namely Espresso Kentucky Breakfast Stout, a 12 percent ABV imperial stout that will be aged on additional fresh coffee beans after being removed from barrels to give the coffee flavor “some extra oomph.”
