Fans of one of Founders Brewing Co.’s most popular fruited stouts will get to drink it again, but this time smaller packaging.
The beer in question is Big Luscious 2020, a 7.8 percent ABV “decadent dessert” stout brewed with dark chocolate and raspberries that will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles. An earlier version of the stout that debuted in December 2014 as part of the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery’s Backstage Series had the same ABV, but was packaged in larger 750ml bottles with a suggested retail price of $16.99 each.
“Since low-cal beers and seltzers are all the rage right now, I thought it would be a good time to bring back a beer that drinks like a dessert,” said Jeremy Kosmicki, brewmaster at Founders, in a press release. “You know, to zag while everyone is zigging. The chocolate is rich and sweet, the raspberries are tart and bright, while a blend of wheat malt, chocolate malt and roasted barley provide a perfect, velvety malt backbone.”
According to the press release, Big Luscious 2020 will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles that are scheduled to be released at Founders’ taprooms on Sept. 30 at a price of $10 each. In addition, bottles are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers across the brewery’s entire 50-state distribution network in October.
