The first rum barrel-aged Founders Brewing Co. has ever packaged will be available next month as part of the brewery’s most popular series.

Barrel Runner is an 11.1 percent ABV imperial IPA brewed with Mosaic hops before being aged in rum barrels. This will be the second barrel-aged IPA to be released by Founders this year, after DankWood, a 12.2 percent ABV imperial red IPA brewed with caramalt and roasted barley as well as chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops before being aged in bourbon barrels, was shipped to retailers last month.

“I drink tiki cocktails probably more than I should and looked to them for inspiration when creating Barrel Runner,” said Jeremy Kosmicki, brewmaster at Founders, in a press release. “You get a lot of bright, tropical character from the abundance of Mosaic hops plus a nice kick of oak and rum from the barrels. Add a tiny umbrella and you got yourself a beer perfect for enjoying poolside.”

The new beer will be the fourth release in the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery’s Barrel-Aged Series, which will consist of a total of six beers:

According to a post on Founders’ website, Barrel Runner will be packaged in both four-packs of 12-ounce bottles ($14.99) as well as 750ml bottles ($11.99) and is scheduled to released at the brewery’s Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms on June 22, with bottles shipping to retailers across the brewery’s 45-state distribution network from June-August.
