A former draft-only creation from Founders Brewing Co. that combines four of the brewery’s IPAs into one beer is moving to bottles.
That beer is 4 Giants IPA, a 9.2 percent ABV imperial IPA that is a mashup of four of the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based brewery’s favorite imperial IPA recipes.
“The world of IPA is constantly changing and evolving, but this beer really captures the essence of what I think is the classic Imperial IPA,” said Jeremy Kosmicki, head brewmaster at Founders, in a press release. “Everything about it is totally in-your-face, but the flavor dynamics still manage to work together to create a well-balanced beer that is extremely fun to drink.”
A version of the ale has been served as a draft-only option since 2018, with ABVs ranging from 9.3 to 9.8 percent. In addition, the imperial IPA was one of the choices that Founders listed in a survey for its Cadre club when members were asked to give “input on future beer releases” in April.
According to a press release, 4 Giants IPA will be packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles ($10) that are scheduled to be released on March 13 at Founders’ Grand Rapids and Detroit taprooms. The IPA will then be available across the brewery’s 50-state distribution network beginning in April through June 2020.
