Foothills Brewing Co. of Winston-Salem, NC is gearing up for the annual release of its Sexual Chocolate imperial stout.
Sexual Chocolate has an ABV of 9.6 percent and 75 IBUs. It was first conceived and brewed back in 1996 when Jamie Bartholomaus, the owner of Foothills, was in college. He and a few friends home brewed the first iteration of this beer to celebrate Valentine’s Day and named it for a band from an Eddie Murphy movie. It was first brewed commercially in 2007 and first released in bottles in 2008.
This year the release party is slated for Jan. 30. It will be available on tap at the pre-party in the brewery on Jan. 29 that starts at 7 p.m. The official party starts the next morning at 8 a.m., and the beer will be available for sale in 22-ounce bottles at 9 a.m for $15 with an eight bottle per person limit.
Sexual Chocolate will also be released throughout Foothills’ distribution network.
