Next month, Foothills Brewing Co. is bringing sexy back.
According to a post on the brewery’s Facebook page, 22-ounce bottles of Sexual Chocolate 2019 will be released on Jan. 26 at the Winston-Salem, N.C. brewery. This year’s incarnation of the imperial stout incorporates organic cocoa nibs sourced from Peru by chocolatier Black Mountain Chocolate.
As in years past, Foothills will host a party the Friday night before where the stout will be served on draft before bottles go on sale the next day. For last year’s release the brewery not only had no purchase limit on bottles, but vintage bottles of Sexual Chocolate were also sold at both the pub and tasting room.
Sexual Chocolate is a 9.7 percent ABV Russian imperial stout that was first conceived and brewed back in 1996 when Jamie Bartholomaus, the owner of Foothills, was in college. He and a few friends home brewed the first iteration of this beer to celebrate Valentine’s Day and named it for a band from an Eddie Murphy movie. It was first brewed commercially in 2007 and first released in bottles in 2008.
Sexual Chocolate typically sees limited distribution and there is also a barrel-aged version that is typically released later on in the year.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
