A collaborative ale combining the efforts of Fonta Flora Brewery and Wicked Weed Brewing is being released next week.

The beer is named Funk and Flora, a 5.9 percent ABV “Appalachian wild ale” brewed with foraged black locust flowers, yarrow, sourwood leaves and wild ginger before being aged in white wine barrels for eight months and bottle conditioned for an additional four months.

“This funky sour ale aged in white wine barrels for eight months and has been conditioned in the bottle for another four months,” reads a post on Fonta Flora’s Facebook page. “The result is a beautiful blond wild ale with expressive notes of wine, oak and botanicals.”

According to Fonta Flora, there will be a total 0f 540 500ml bottles that will go on sale on July 9 at the Morganton, N.C.-based brewery, with purchase limits to be based on turnout.
