Next month will mark the sixth time that Firestone Walker Brewing Co.’s barrel-aged oatmeal stout has returned as part of the Proprietor’s Vintage Series.

The Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery will once again be releasing Velvet Merkin, a 7.8 percent ABV oatmeal stout brewed with fuggle hops as well as maris otter, 2-row pale, roast barley, English dark caramel, medium caramel and carafe malt malts before being aged in bourbon barrels. The stout originally debuted in 2008, but was first bottled as part of Firestone Walker’s Vintage Series in 2013.

According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Velvet Merkin 2018 will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles, and there will only be 6,700 cases produced.

An email sent to the brewery for information regarding a release date and distribution information was not immediately returned.
