A new Firestone Walker Brewing Co. creation being released on Black Friday is a barrel-aged combination inspired by two classic drinks: the old fashioned and the Manhattan.

Old Man Hattan 2018 is a blend of five of the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery’s beers: Parabola, Helldorado, Velvet Merkin, Bravo and Stickee Monkee. However, while the latter three were aged in whiskey barrels, select lots of the Parabola and Helldorado included in the blend were aged in Woodford Reserve barrels previously used to mature cherry bitters, orange bitters and aromatic bitters.

Firestone Walker has released a special creation on Black Friday multiple times in the past: Parabajava 2015, a 14 percent ABV imperial stout that uses the brewery’s popular Parabola as its base before adding Intelligentsia Coffee Co.’s “El Diablo” espresso blend was released in 2015; while Dark & Stormy 2017, a 13.6 percent ABV ale that is a mashup of Helldorado blonde barleywine aged in rum barrels and Velvet Merkin oatmeal stout aged in rum barrels with “a touch” of hand-zested lime and ginger was released in 2017.

According to a post on Firestone Walker’s Facebook page, Old Man Hattan 2018 will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles ($10.99) and will have no purchase limit when it is released on Nov. 23 at the brewery’s three locations in Paso Robles, Buellton and Venice.
