First released in 2018 as a part of the Barrelworks series of wild ales, Firestone Walker Brewing Co.’s Bretta Tangerine is back.

Bretta Tangerine is an 8-36 months, barrel-aged and blended Berlinerweisse style wheat beer that uses locally sourced tangerines. The foundation of this beer is Barrelwork’s Bretta Weisse Beer.

“We created this thick, pulpy mass using nearly 90 percent of the volume of the 1,000 pounds of tangerines,” said Jim Crooks, master blender of Barrelworks, in a press release, “The aromas coming off of it made our heads spin.”

According to Firestone Walker’s website, the 2018 version of Bretta Tangerine was 4.9 percent ABV. Bretta Tangerine was released this week in limited quantities to all Firestone Walker markets in 375ml bottles as well as on draft.
