Next week, Firestone Walker Brewing Co. will be releasing not one, but two different versions of its most popular stout.

The first will be the 2018 incarnation of Parabola, a 12.7 percent ABV Russian imperial stout is brewed with hallertau and Zeus hops along with nine different malts before being aged in a mixture of bourbon barrels previously used for Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, Four Roses, Pappy Van Winkle and Woodford Reserve.

Parabola debuted in 2009 and was released last year on March 25.

In addition, Firestone Walker will be releasing Coconut Rye Parabola, a 12.2 percent ABV Russian imperial stout aged in rye whiskey barrels for one and conditioned on toasted shaved coconut. As the name suggests, the stout uses the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery’s Parabola as its base and is one of a number of different variants released of that stout, including Parabajava and Scotch Parabola.

According to a post on Firestone Walker’s Facebook page, both Parabola ($9.99) and Coconut Rye Parabola ($10.99) will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles and will be released on April 7 during an event at the brewery’s Paso Robles, Buellton and Venice locations with a limit of 12 bottles per person of each beer.

While Coconut Rye Parabola will be a brewery-only release with only 300 cases available, bottles of Parabola 2018 will ship to show up on retailer’s shelves across the brewery’s distribution network throughout the month of April.
