Firestone Walker Brewing Co.’s popular Barrelworks series of wild ales has a new member this year.

Bretta Tangerine is a Berliner-weisse style wheat beer blended from different batches aged in french oak barrels from 8 to 36 months with regionally-sourced tangerines. While the labels indicate that the beer comes in at 6.2 percent ABV, the website indicates that ABV is 4.2 percent.

According to Firestone Walker’s website, the tangerines are sourced from the nearby Ojai valley through Friends Ranchers, who “offered the W. Murcott Tangerine, which we zested for aroma, juiced for flavor, and then fermented with our base beer of Bretta Weisse to create a metamorphosis.”

According to its Facebook page, Bretta Tangerine is packaged in 375ml bottles with a total of 2,200 cases that are available now at the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery and bottles will be shipped across Firestone Walker’s distribution network.

An email to the brewery requesting more information has not yet been returned.
