Barrelworks, a division of Firestone Walker Brewery Co., has released its next beer, a 6.6 percent ABV American wild red ale named Agrestic. The official debut was at a Barrelworks events inside the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery on Sept. 20.

Agrestic began its life as Double Barrel Ale, but became something altogether different after a proprietary collection of microflora was added and it was aged in oak barrels. According to a press release, the recipe consists of a selection of different agrestic lots matured from eight to 24 months in French (87 percent) and American oak (13 percent) barrels.

In addition to being offered on draft at Barrelworks, 600 cases of 375-ml bottles of Agrestic were produced. The bottles can only be purchased at the brewery.
