After a one year break, Firestone Walker Brewing Co. is bring back a popular seasonal release with a twist.
The beer is Oaktoberfest, a 5 percent ABV “Paso märzen bier” that is brewed with ingredients sourced exclusively from Germany, including pilsner and Vienna malts as well as hallertau tradition hops. The oktoberfest-style ale was first released in 2008, but was not packaged last year, and is a fall seasonal release from the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery that will be available through November.
“Malty sweetness and subtle honey-like aromas take the lead on this beer, but there’s also a subtext of noble hop spiciness,” said Matt Brynildson, brewmaster at Firestone Walker, in a post on the brewery’s website. “It’s cool to have this beer back in the package, particularly in this new four-pack. You might be tempted to retire your stein and quaff it straight from the can.”
According to the press release, Oaktoberfest will be packaged in four-packs of 16-ounce cans and is shipping to retailers across Firestone Walker’s distribution network now.
