A new beer from Firestone Walker Brewing Co.’s Barrelworks program is being released to commemorate an anniversary of one of the largest retailers in the midwest.

Paw² Prints is a 6.9 percent ABV wild ale fermented with pawpaw fruit and aged in French oak foeders between 6-36 months. According to posts on Binny’s Beverage Depot’s Instagram page, the ale will be one of the multiple collaborations between it and various breweries to celebrate the Chicago-based retailer’s 70th anniversary in business.

Started in 2006 as a way for brewers to experiment, the Barrelworks program at Firestone Walker has released more than 15 different beers to date and constitutes more than 1,500 barrels in a 7,000-square-foot building in Buellton, Calif.

According to labels filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Paw² Prints was packaged in 375ml bottles on May 23 and 3,000 cases will be available when it is released.

An email sent to both the brewery and Binny’s for additional information was not immediately returned.
