A new variant of Firestone Walker Brewing Co.’s most popular stout coming next year might seem a bit familiar.
Cocoanut Parabola 2020 is a 14 percent ABV imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels with both cocoa nibs and toasted coconut. As the name suggests, the stout uses the Paso Robles, Calif.-based brewery’s Parabola as its base and is one of a number of different variants released of that barrel-aged stout, including Parabajava and Scotch Parabola.
This is the second time in as many years that Firestone Walker has released a bottled Parabola variant conditioned on coconut, after Coconut Rye Parabola, a 12.2 percent ABV Russian imperial stout aged in rye whiskey barrels for one and conditioned on toasted shaved coconut was released on April 7, 2018.
According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Cocoanut Parabola 2020 will be packaged in 12-ounce bottles with 150 cases available when it is released.
An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
