Lots of craft beer enthusiasts are not fans of AB InBev after the company has been on a craft brewery buying spree, but one person has a plan to voice his displeasure in a very public way.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money to pay for an aerial banner to fly around the city of San Diego that will read, “10 Barrel Is Not Craft Beer.” The date chosen for the banner to be flown—May 27— just happens to be the same day that 10 Barrel Brewing Co. is hosting a block party to celebrate the grand opening of its new San Diego-based pub.
After acquiring 10 Barrel Brewing in November 2014, AB InBev has gone on to purchase nine more craft breweries, including Breckenridge Brewery in Littleton, Colo., Karbach Brewing Co. in Houston, Texas and Wicked Weed Brewing in Asheville, N.C.
According to information on the GoFundMe page, the original goal of $900 was met in three days, and the total raised so far stands at $1,770 from 69 people. As a result, an update on the page indicates that due to the extra money raised the banner will now be flown twice instead of just once.
