A new release from Evil Twin Brewing is being brewed as a tribute to one of owner Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø’s good friends Jean-Claude Tetreault, co-founder and co-owner of Boston-based Trillium Brewing Co.
The Brooklyn, N.Y.-based brewery will be releasing Even More JCs, a 12 percent ABV “affogato-style imperial stout” brewed with lactose and conditioned on coffee and vanilla beans. An affogato—which translates to drowned from Italian—is a coffee-based drink that is usually made up of a shot of espresso poured over a scoop of vanilla gelato or ice cream.
A few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer maker rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to become such a divine hero you need crazy juice skills, a fake Minnesota dialect and a cool and exotic sounding name like Jean-Claude – it’s Even More JCs – an affogato style imperial stout.
In an email, Jarnit-Bjergsø told Tenemu that Even More JCs is being brewed this month and will be packaged in 16-ounce cans that are scheduled to start shipping to the company’s entire distribution network in limited quantities in October.
