A new beer from DuClaw Brewing Co. is named after a character in a popular kids cartoon from the 1960s.

The beer is El Kabong, a 6 percent ABV ale brewed with galena and Mosaic hops as well as terrified wheat and pale, crystal, carafoam and rye malts. In addition, both apricots, Chile de árbol and ancho chiles have been added.

“There’s a first time for everything, and DuClaw Brewing Company Brewer, Jordan McGraw’s first taste of an apricot lead him to an inevitable conclusion: apricots are delicious, but not as delicious as they would be with chili peppers in a beer!” reads the marketing material for the new beer.

The new beer is named after the main character in The Quick Draw McGraw Show cartoon, whose alter ego El Kabong would wear a mask and hit antagonists over the head with his guitar.

According to Laura Day, vp of sales at DuClaw, El Kabong is packaged in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles.
