This December, the Devil will get his due.
On Monday, DuClaw Brewing Co. released Devil’s Due, a beer that blends two of its most popular releases. The 11 percent ABV bourbon barrel-aged stout is a blend of the Baltimore, Md.-based brewery’s Devil’s Milk Barleywine (10.6 percent ABV) and Retribution imperial stout (11.5 percent ABV) that has spent time aging in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. The final release is a fifty-fifty blend of the two beers.
“This blend of Retribution imperial stout & Devil’s Milk Barleywine-style ale will claim your soul with a mix of chocolate, coffee, smoky malt, & notes of charred oak, vanilla & caramelized sugar,” reads the label on the bottle. “The milkman cometh, so pop the top and… settle your debt!”
While Devil’s Due has been released before on draft, this is the first time it has been packaged in bottles. DuClaw told Tenemu that only 626 12-ounce bottles were produced and they will be sold as single units.
Two other new beers were shipped with Devil’s Due: X-8, a 7.5 percent ABV spiced winter warmer and Anti-Venom 4, a 7 percent ABV IPA brewed exclusively with American centennial hops. The beers were shipped to retailers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia yesterday and should be on shelves this week.
