Instead of making customers come to them, Deschutes Brewery is bringing its beers to the people.
The brewery based out of Bend, Ore. will be launching so called Street Pubs, which will bring “the pub experience – on which Deschutes was founded – direct to fans with the world’s biggest transportable bar.” Each outdoor Street Pub will encompass more than 400 feet and will be made up of reclaimed steel and wood.
“We were founded as a small downtown public house more than 26 years ago, and the personal connection with our patrons is a core part of who we are,” said Joey Pleich, Deschutes field marketing manager, in a press release. “There’s nothing quite like the discoveries made while sitting elbow to elbow, pint in hand, at the pub. The Street Pub is our way to bring the essence of our pubs to fans across the nation.”
In addition to serving both Reserve Series and year-round releases, each Street Pub will include food creations by Jeff Usinowicz, Deschutes Brewery’s executive chef, as well as live local music.
The first Street Pub will take place on May 9 in Bend, Oregon, and will then travel to seven other cities across the country:
According to the press release, a local non-profit charity will be chosen to receive proceeds to “benefit” its mission” in each of the cities that the Street Pubs will be held.
