A new barrel-aged stout from Deschutes Brewery is inspired by a popular middle eastern desert.

Baklava Barrel-Aged Pastry Stout is a 13.3 percent ABV imperial stout brewed with “almond flavor”, cardamon, cinnamon, cloves and honey that will be packaged in 500ml bottles. According to a label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the new stout will be aged in bourbon, port and sherry barrels.

Baklava is a traditional sweet dessert made up of layers of pastry and chopped nuts held together with either syrup or honey that is popular in a number of different parts of the world, including the middle east, Greece and Central Asia.
