Three years after it was last seen, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. is rereleasing one of its most infamous stouts to commemorate its fifth year in business.
That beer is Existence 2019, a 13.7 percent ABV imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels for 23 months. The last release of the bourbon barrel-aged stout was in May 2016, although that version came in a slightly lower 11.8 percent ABV and was aged in barrels that previously held Willet bourbon for 19 months.
In addition, the Athens, Ga.-based brewery will also be releasing Five Year Anniversary Ale, a 12.8 percent ABV “blended strong ale from the brewery’s whiskey barrel cellar” that has been aged in whiskey barrel for an average of 23 months.”
According to a post on Creature Comfort’s Instagram page, Existence 2019 will be packaged in 750ml bottles ($30) that will be sold during the brewery’s 5 Year Anniversary VIP session. Each person will be limited to one bottle and there are only 300 bottles available.
