This week, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. will be releasing a beer in cans that takes its name after the slogan of a local restaurant.

The beer to get the new packaging treatment is Automatic, a 5.2 percent ABV American pale ale brewed with both crystal and Mosaic hops. The pale ale was first released by the Athens, Ga.-based brewery in 2015 as a draft-only option and is named after the slogan of Weaver D’s Delicious Fine Foods which inspired the REM album Automatic for the People.

“Automatic is meant to be light, refreshing and quite drinkable without falling into the common pitfall of ending up too thin, watery or insipid,” said Adam Beauchamp, co-founder and head brewer at Creature Comforts, in a post on the brewery’s website. “No color malts were used, however, the relatively full mouthfeel is enough to support this heavily hopped beer. The flavor mirrors the aroma with a bit more earthiness and stone fruit, leading to a nicely balanced and moderately bitter finish.”

According to a post on Creature Comforts Instagram page, 12-ounce cans of Automatic will be released at an event at the brewery on June 16 before being shipped to retailers in the Athens and Atlanta markets.
