The first new beer is Tarheel Unidragon, a 13 percent ABV imperial Russian stout brewed with Heritage and Carolina Rye malt sourced from Asheville, N.C.-based Riverbend Malt House before aging it in bourbon barrels. The base beer is the Ipswich, Mass.-based company’s Blaecon Unidragon (12.5 percent ABV), which was first released in 2011.
In addition, Clown Shoes has shipped Galacticake, a 9 percent ABV double IPA dry-hopped with the hops used in another of the brewery’s releases, namely Galactica IPA (8 percent ABV.) In addition, the new beer uses Clown Shoes’ Space Cake IPA (9 percent ABV) as its base.
According to a post on Clown Shoes’ Facebook page, Tarheel Unidragon has been shipped exclusively to North Carolina, while Galacticake has been shipped exclusively to the state of Ohio, and both releases are packaged can 22-ounce bottles.
