Starting this month, fans of Clown Shoes Beer will have a brand new way to enjoy the brewery’s barrel-aged stouts.

That is because the Boston-based brewery has announced it will be moving the entirety of its barrel-aged releases to 19.2-ounce “Stovepipe” cans. Clown Shoes had historically packaged the vast majority of its barrel-aged products in 22-ounce bottles.

The first release in the new packaging format will be a Hephaestus 2020, a 12.5 percent ABV Russian imperial stout brewed with mesquite smoked malts and aged in bourbon barrels with “massive amounts of Espresso cold brew” added from Barrington Roasting Co. Named after the Greek god of blacksmiths, metals and volcanoes, Hephaestus was released in both 2016 and 2017 as a Texas-state exclusive release.

According to posts on Clown Shoes’ website and Facebook page, Hephaestus 2020 will be packaged in 19.2-ounce cans that are scheduled to ship to retailers across the brewery’s distribution network this month.
