Clown Shoes Beer is turning seven years old in December, and is celebrating with a new release.
The new beer is Space Cake #7, a 7.77 percent ABV IPA brewed with Mosaic hops that has been dry-hopped with seven different varietals: centennial, Citra, Ella, Galaxy, Idaho 7, Mosaic, and nelson sauvin. The IPA uses the Ipswich, Mass.-based brewery’s Space Cake IPA (9 percent ABV) as its base, a beer that was first released in 2013.
This not the first time that Clown Shoes has bottled a variant of the double IPA, after the company released Lemon Drop Space Cake (9 percent ABV), which replaced the normal Mosaic hops found in the beer with lemon drop hops and was released exclusively in the state of Connecticut for the first time last year, and Vic Secret Space Cake (10 percent ABV), a double IPA brewed with Mosiac hops before being dry-hopped with Vic Secret hops from Australia.
According to a post on Clown Shoe’s Facebook page, Space Cake #7 will be packaged in 22-ounce bottles and is scheduled to ship across the brewery’s entire distribution network in December.
