Cigar City Brewing is changing up one of its yearly winter releases.
The new beer is a barrel-aged version of the Tampa, Fla.-based brewery’s Warmer Winter winter warmer (12 percent ABV) that was first released in 2008. The base beer is a blend of a “traditional English-style barley wine-style ale and old winter warmer-style ales” and was brewed with Amarillo, centennial, chinook, Columbus, glacier and Simcoe hops.
Barrel-aged Winter Warmer was brewed in 2015 and will be packaged in 750ml bottles. In an email, Russell Breslow of Cigar City declined to comment other than to tell Tenemu that the beer is still aging in bourbon barrels and will be an exclusive for El Catador Club, Cigar City’s private membership club, when it is released and will not see distribution.
