Cellarmaker Brewing Co.’s newest IPA incorporates hops from a country that is not known for its hop production.
Southern Passion IPA is a 6.5 percent ABV IPA brewed exclusively with southern passion hops sourced from the country of South Africa. The IPA was first released on-draft by the San Francisco-based brewery in January.
“This hop is unique in so many ways and changes in flavor throughout the lifespan of any beer it is involved with,” reads a post on the brewery’s Facebook page. “Aromas and flavors of blueberry, melon, cedar, coconut with great resin content as well.”
According to a post on the San Francisco-based brewery’s website, Southern Passion IPA is packaged in 22-ounce bottles ($9) and will have a six bottle per person limit when it goes on sale at the brewery today.
