One of the first beers that Cascade Brewing Barrel House ever released is returning tomorrow.
The beer is Kriek 2016, a 7.4 percent ABV blend of sour red ales conditioned on more than 16,000 pounds of Bing and sour pie cherries in oak wine barrels for up to 17 months. The sour ale debuted in 2007, and has been an annual release by the Portland, Ore.-based brewery ever since.
“As one of our earliest and most recognized beers, Kriek has been a staple in our portfolio of Northwest sour ales,” said Tim Larrance, vice president of sales and marketing at Cascade, in a press release. “Kriek continues to be a flagship project that represents the soul of our craft.”
According to a press release, Kriek 2016 will be packaged in 750ml bottles and will be released at Cascade’s taprooms on May 2, with retailers across the brewery’s distribution network scheduled to receive bottles soon after.
