A variant of Bruery Terreux’s Tart of Darkness is being planned for early next year.

As its name suggests, Tart of Darkness with Black Currants is a 6.2 percent ABV sour stout aged in oak barrels with black currants. The new beer uses the Placentia, Calif.-based brewery’s Tart of Darkness as its base, a stout that debuted in 2013.

In an email, Joel Kennedy, marketing manager at The Bruery, told Tenemu that Tart of Darkness with Black Currants will be available in both 750ml and 375ml bottles that are scheduled to be released in February 2018. In addition, members of the brewery’s various membership societies will have access to both bottle sizes while the public will only be able to purchase 375ml bottles either online or at The Bruery’s tasting rooms in or The Bruery Store at Union Market in Washington, D.C.
