As has historically been the case this time of year, the Brewers Association (BA) has released its annual lists of the top 50 craft and overall brewing companies in the U.S. based on sales volume.

While Pottsville, PA-based D. G. Yuengling and Son, Inc, Boston Beer Co in Boston and Chico, Calif.-based Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. took the top three spots again this year, there were some changes in the top 10 including Duvel Moortgat USA moving up one spot from to firth place, replacing The Gambrinus Co. which moved from fifth down to sixth place.

In addition, the new addition of CANarchy craft brew collective—which includes Oskar Blues Brewery, Cigar City Brewing, Perrin Brewing Co. and Salt Lake Brewing Co.—debuted at ninth on the list.

The top 10 breweries on this year’s craft breweries list are:

  2. Boston Beer Co. (Boston, Mass.)
  3. Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (Chico, Calif.)
  4. New Belgium Brewing Co. (Fort Collins, Colo.)
  5. Duvel Moortgat USA (Pasa Robles, Calif.)
  6. The Gambrinus Co. (San Antonio, Texas)
  7. Bell’s Brewery, Inc (Comstock, Mich.)
  8. Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, Calif.)
  9. CANarchy (Longmont/Tampa/Salt Lake City/Comstock Park)
  10. Deschutes Brewery (Bend, Ore.)

““In an increasingly competitive and mature marketplace, these brewing companies continue to lead and pave the path for small and independent craft brewers,” said Bart Watson, chief economist of the Brewers Association, in a press release.

The Brewers Association is a not-for-profit trade group representing small and independent craft brewers.

The list also includes the top 50 U.S. breweries for overall sales, the top two of which were unchanged from last year: Saint Louis, Mo.-based Anheuser-Busch, Inc, Chicago, Ill.-based MillerCoors.

However, there were three new additions to the list this year: Constellation Brands, which replaced Los Angeles, Calif.-based Pabst Brewing Co. at the third spot; Heineken, which replaced D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc at number four and Diageo, which replaced Boston Beer Co. at number eight.

  12. Lagunitas Brewing Co. (Petaluma, Calif.)
  13. Craft Brew Alliance (Portland, Ore.)
In addition, New Belgium Brewing Co., Lagunitas Brewing Co. and Craft Brew Alliance were knocked out of the top 10 from their spots at eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

Out of the top 50 overall brewing companies, the Brewers Association classified 40 as small and independent craft brewing companies.
