It may be April Fools Day, but the Brewers Association (BA) is not kidding around by releasing its annual lists of the top 50 craft and overall brewing companies in the U.S. based on sales volume in 2019.

As was the case in 2017 and 2018, Pottsville, PA-based D. G. Yuengling and Son, Inc, Boston Beer Co in Boston and Chico, Calif.-based Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. took the first, second and third spots respectively. In fact, the top 10 places had only one minor change compared to 2018: Artisanal Brewing Ventures—which includes Victory Brewing, Southern Tier Brewing and Sixpoint Brewery—moved up one spot to tenth place, replacing Deschutes Brewery, which slid to eleventh place.

“Although 2020 will be a markedly different year than 2019 for the craft brewing market, these companies are well positioned to help the craft category weather the current market uncertainty and rebound with the flavor, variety, and innovation that beer lovers have come to expect from small brewers,” said Bart Watson, chief economist of the Brewers Association, in a press release.

The Brewers Association is a not-for-profit trade group representing small and independent craft brewers.

The list also includes the top 50 U.S. breweries for overall sales, the top six of which were unchanged from 2018. However, there was one major change in the top 10: Diageo moved up one spot to sixth place, replacing Pottsville,Pa.-based D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc, which moved down to seventh place.

  1. Anheuser-Busch, Inc (Saint Louis, Mo.)
  2. MolsonCoors (Chicago, Ill.)
