Breckenridge Brewery is putting nitro in cans.

According to the Littleton, Colo.-based brewery, it will be introducing a new line of 16-ounce cans that will include nitrogen-carbonated beer.

“Vanilla Porter and Lucky U were logical choices for rolling out this ground-breaking release for us,” said Todd Usry, brewery director, in a post on the brewery’s website. “We’ve built a fan base for both of these beers in recent years with nitrogen-infused draft releases. It’s time to put this beer on the shelves.”

The first beers to be packaged in the new cans will be Nitro Vanilla Porter (5.4 percent ABV) and Nitro Lucky U IPA (6.2 percent ABV,) both of which will be sold in four-packs of 16-ounce cans as a year-round option. In addition, Breckenridge will be introducing a new seasonal program in the nitro cans with the first release expected to hit shelves in mid-August 2016.

“We are capitalizing on strengths with the release of Nitro Series, offering our consumers another way to enjoy our bestselling beer, Vanilla Porter and a new way to enjoy craft’s bestselling style, IPA,” adds George O’Neill, director of sales. “The portability that our nitro can offers really opens the number of occasions in which the beer can be consumed. Those who enjoy the nitro experience no longer have to remain tied to the bar stool or pint glass.”

Earlier today, it was announced Breckenridge had purchased by Anheuser-Busch InBev.
