Boulevard Brewing Co. is adding another year-round beer to its lineup.

The Kanas City, Mo.-based brewery has announced Tell-Tale Tart, a 6.2 percent ABV “slightly sour ale” that is brewed with both pale and Munich malts.

According to a press release, the beer “derives pleasant, refreshing lactic acidity from brewhouse souring, a process of lowering the pH during the brewing process. The brewhouse souring method results in a crisp, clean acidity that serves as a contrast to a soft, subtly sweet malt character contributed by our base pale malt and Munich malt.”

“Deriving its name from Poe’s classic take of madness and murder, Tale-Tell Tart takes a light hearted approach to the subject of sourness,” reads the label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). “Subtle acidity is answered by a soft malt character, making this a sour ale that suggests, rather announcing its tartness.”

Tell-Tale Tart will join Boulevard’s year-round lineup of Smokestack Series releases, and will be sold in four packs of 12-ounce bottles throughout the brewery’s entire distribution network in June.
