A returning fall release from Boulevard Brewing Co. may soon be sold in a different packaging option.

According to labels filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), the Kansas City, Mo.-based brewery is working on releasing a version of its Tart Apple Radler, a 4.1 percent ABV American-style wheat ale blended with both citrus and lemon packaged in 12-ounce bottles. The ale debuted as an option in Boulevard’s lineup in 2018 packaged in 12-ounce cans.

Tart Apple Radler joins three other radlers that use Boulevard’s Unfiltered Wheat Beer (4.4 percent ABV) as its base, a list that includes Ginger Lemon Radler, Cherry Lime Radler and Cranberry Orange Radler.

The original radler was invented in 1922 when the owner of a Bavarian inn named Franz Xaver Kugler began running out of beer and added lemon-lime soda to a lager to serve to some thirsty cyclists.

An email sent to the brewery for additional information was not immediately returned.
