A new collaboration between Boulevard Brewing Co. and Rhinegeist Brewery is meant to replicate the flavors found in a peach and berry pie.
Crust Fall is a 7.5 percent ABV imperial Berliner weisse-style ale brewed with Columbus hops as well as Dingeman’s Biscuit Malt, honey malt, pale malt and wheat malt. The ale was then conditioned on a variety of fruits and other adjuncts before being packaged, including blackberries, blueberries, peaches and vanilla.
“This Peach Berry Pie Sour tastes and smells like…wait for it…a fresh-baked pie with a filling of peaches and tart berries,” reads a post on Boulevard’s website. “Crisp and slightly tart, the beer pours garnet red with a white frothy head. The beer opens with aromas of freshly sliced peaches followed by waves of juicy berry aroma and flavor.”
According to Boulevard, Crust Fall will be packaged in four-packs of 16-ounce cans that are scheduled to debut in the “Greater Kansas City area” on Oct. 5, with cans shipping to other markets “that typically see Boulevard Brewing Co. Limited Releases” in the “coming weeks.”
