In 2013 Boulevard Brewing Co introduced the Sample Twelve Pack. It contained three bottles each of four varieties.
For 2017, Sample Twelve will contain year-round favorites Single-Wide IPA and Unfiltered Wheat Beer, in addition to two former Tasting Room and Beer Hall exclusives, Tasting Room − Extra Pale Ale and Tasting Room − Spicy Rye Ale.
Tasting Room − Extra Pale Ale has a malt base comprised of Cara 50 and Carapils. This simple base provides room for “massive hopping” with Amarillo, bravo, calypso, chinook, Citra, Equinox and Simcoe according to a press release. All the hops, save Bravo, are used again for dry-hopping. Tasting Room − Extra Pale Ale clock in at 5.5 percent ABV and 50 IBUs.
For Tasting Room – Spicy Rye Ale, the malt bill includes 20 percent rye “accented with amber and caramel malts.” Amarillo, Azacca, Mosaic and nelson sauvin hops lead the way for a surprise touch of heat provided by crushed pink peppercorns. The 12-ounce bottle of Tasting Room – Spicy Rye Ale is 5.3 percent ABV and 40 IBUs.
Both beers will also be available on draft at Boulevard’s Kansas City, Mo. beer hall.
An email sent to Boulevard seeking additional details was not immediately returned.
