Boulevard Brewing Co. and Bucyrus, Mo..-based Piney River Brewing Co. have joined forces to produce a beer that will be poured exclusively at Boulevardia 2017.
Sparkling Ale is a 5.1 percent ABV cream ale brewed with six-row barley and flaked maize as well as Cluster and Galena hops. The new beer will be released as a draft-only option at Boulevardia 2017, which is an annual event put on by Boulevard Brewing that includes a “pop-up party nation” and “combines the best aspects of beer, food and music festivals.” The annual event was first held in 2014 and this year’s festivities are scheduled for June 16-June 17.
“Inspired by the history of the Stockyards District and its connection to agriculture and honest, hard work; our collaboration team wanted to make a beer that spoke to the location of the festival while addressing a desire to brew an easy-drinking, thirst quenching beer appropriate for an outdoor festival in June,” reads a post on Boulevard’s website. “Originally brewed by smaller American ale brewers to compete with larger lager brewers, sparkling ales are historically brewed with six-row barley and flaked maize.”
This will be the fourth exclusive release for the festival, following Boulevardia Celebration Sour in 2014, Show-Me Sour in 2015 and Boulevardia Berliner Weisse in 2016.
