Boulevard Brewing Co. will be brewing the fifth beer in its Collaboration Series with Tampa, Fla.-based Cigar City Brewing.
The aptly named Collaboration No. 5 — Tropical Pale Ale will be a 7.3 percent ABV pale ale that is brewed with Maris Otter, Munich and caramel malts as well as mosaic, citra, lemon drop and Azacca hops. The beer will then have sliced grapefruit added at the end of the boil, followed by aging on passion fruit and grapefruit at the end of fermentation.
The new pale ale is the fifth release in the Kanas City, Mo.-based brewery’s Collaboration Series, which also includes Collaboration No. 5 — Imperial Pilsner (8 percent ABV) brewed with Orval, Collaboration No. 2 — White India Pale Ale (7.4 percent ABV) brewed with Deschutes Brewing Company, Collaboration No. 3 — Stingo English strong ale (8.5 percent ABV) brewed with Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project and Collaboration No. 4 — Saison (7.3 percent ABV) brewed with Brewery Ommegang.
According to a post on Boulevard’s website, Collaboration No. 5 — Tropical Pale Ale will be brewed at Boulevard and packaged in four-packs of 12-ounce bottles for the first time, moving away from the 750ml bottles used in the past four Collaboration releases. The beer is expected to be released in September and will be available throughout Boulevard’s entire 31-state distribution footprint and Washington D.C.
