South Carolina will be the 29th state to carry Boulevard Brewing Co.’s beers before the end of the month. According to a press release, seven wholesalers in the Palmetto State have finalized agreements to distribute the Kansas City-based brewery’s products in their respective regions: Better Brands, Beverage South, Corner Distributing, Crown Beverages, Greenco Beverage Co., H&S Wholesalers and Lee Distributing.
“It‘s the right time to add South Carolina to our map,” said Steve Mills, Boulevard’s vp of sales. “The craft beer culture is thriving in the Palmetto State, and our new distribution partners are eager to introduce Boulevard to that community. We look forward to becoming a full participant in the evolving story.”
A number of Boulevard’s year-round beers will be available first, including the brewery’s most popular release, Unfiltered Wheat Beer along with Single-Wide I.P.A., 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer and Pop-Up I.P.A. Also included in the distribution deal are Boulevard’s Smokestack Series, which are available all year long: Long Strange Tripel, The Sixth Glass, Double-Wide I.P.A., Dark Truth Stout and Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale. Other seasonal and limited releases will also be introduced to the state as they are released.
Since it was founded in 1989, Boulevard has become one of the largest breweries in the Midwest, contained in a 70,000 square foot facility with an annual production of approximately 600,000 barrels of beer. In late 2013, the brewery was sold to Belgian company Duvel Moortgat, which also purchased Cooperstown, N.Y.-based Ommegang Brewery in 2003.
