Boulevard Brewing Co. has shipped a new Smokestack Series beer and it’s a version of an already existing release.
The new beer is Chocolate Ale with Raspberry, a 9.1 percent ABV ale brewed with pale malt, caracrystal wheat and simpsons honey naked oats malts, along with perle hops, dextrose, cacao nibs and raspberry purée. The beer is based off of the Kansas City, Mo.-based brewery’s Chocolate Ale (9.1 percent ABV,) a collaboration with chocolatier Christopher Elbow which was first released in 2011.
“We’re always looking for playful new ways to approach the art of brewing, so we invited back celebrated chocolatier Christopher Elbow to reimagine our very popular collaboration, Chocolate Ale,” reads the beer label filed with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB.) “For this exciting new version he has paired the bright flavors and aromas of raspberry for a fresh take on an old favorite.”
Chocolate Ale with Raspberry is the 14th release in Boulevard’s Smokestack Series, which includes both limited releases and year-round beers packaged in both 750ml bottles and 12-ounce bottles.
According to a post on Boulevard’s Facebook page, Chocolate Ale with Raspberry is shipping to retailers in the greater Kansas City area today, with other cities in the brewery’s distribution footprint following “soon.”
